Confronted early with hardship, Hom Nguyen developed great resilience, a sense of discipline and a constant wish to pay tribute to her. On her death in 2009, he turned fully to artistic creation, transforming his anger and grief into creative energy.

Deeply involved in humanitarian and social causes, Hom Nguyen was made a Chevalier de l’Ordre national du Mérite in 2021.
