Malik Roberts (b. 1990, Brooklyn, New York) is a Brooklyn-based painter and multimedia artist, born to a Guyanese mother and a Trinidadian father. Moving back and forth between Atlanta and New York shaped his worldview, informing the distinctive style he terms Cubo-Prismism, which blends Cubist elements with a prismatic synthesis. His paintings embrace a rhizomatic visual vernacular, allowing for both “witnessing” and “reflection” of personal and cultural contexts. Rooted in a diverse tapestry of experiences, Roberts’ work addresses themes of persecution, aspiration, and complexity—often using melanated palettes to convey deep emotional and cultural narratives.
